Conversations That Matter.
Messages That Move With You.
LaQuita Willis, LCSW, CCTP, CGE, is a speaker, author, clinical educator, and trauma therapist who brings more than 15 years of behavioral-health experience to conversations about healing, trauma, strength, protection, grief, and the ways we learn to survive.
Through story-driven keynotes and clinically grounded professional education, LaQuita translates complex ideas into language audiences can recognize in their own lives and work. Her approach brings together lived experience, clinical expertise, cultural responsiveness, and practical tools creating space for people to feel seen while leaving with something they can carry beyond the room.
Available for keynotes, conferences, continuing education, professional trainings, organizational workshops, and community events.

Signature Keynotes
Story-driven keynotes blending lived experience, clinical insight, and practical healing language to help audiences rethink healing, strength, care, and what it means to move forward without leaving themselves behind.
But I Had Done the Work
Rethinking What Healing Means When Life Still Affects You
What happens when you’ve healed, grown, gone to therapy and life still hurts? LaQuita challenges the belief that healing should eventually make us unaffected by what we’ve lived through.
Strength Should Be Available Not Required
When Being “The Strong One” Becomes a Way of Surviving
An honest look at the cost of always being capable, dependable, and okay—and what becomes possible when strength becomes a choice rather than a requirement.
Caring Without Carrying
How to Care Deeply Without Becoming Responsible for Everyone Else
For helpers, caregivers, and leaders, LaQuita explores the difference between caring deeply and taking responsibility for other people’s emotions, problems, and outcomes.
Clinical & Professional Education
Clinically grounded, culturally responsive trainings designed to move beyond theory into reflection, application, and practical use.
Reclaiming Peace: IFS as a Pathway to Healing the Busy Parts in Black Women
An interactive, culturally responsive training exploring the protective responses LaQuita describes as “Busy Parts” patterns that may organize around achievement, caretaking, productivity, control, strength, and staying needed. Participants use selected IFS concepts to explore protective function while considering personal, cultural, relational, systemic, and present-day context.
I Thought I Was Past This: Rethinking Recurrence in Trauma Recovery
When familiar emotions, responses, or activation return, clients and sometimes clinicians may interpret their return as evidence that healing has failed. This training offers a more nuanced approach to recurrence by examining context, functioning, intensity, frequency, consequences, safety, and available choice.
Beyond the Armor: Recognizing Protective Over-Functioning in Clients Who Appear to Be Doing Well
High functioning does not always tell us how someone is doing. This training helps clinicians recognize and explore protective over-functioning with greater curiosity and context without automatically pathologizing competence, productivity, achievement, caregiving, or strength.
The Clinician’s Armor
Clinicians bring their own protective responses into the therapeutic relationship. This training invites helping professionals to examine how their reactions, assumptions, identities, and protective patterns may influence clinical engagement when working with clients whose “armor” shows up in the room.
